    One thing I truly appreciate about Willem Dafoe is the fact that unlike other Actors, he appreciates the art of a performance. Its not just another acting gig, but a artwork in his portfolio. He enjoys the behind the scenes aspects, and really performs in a vast range of films. He really enjoys the art of performing, someone who really loves and knows alot about their job, but also is fascinated in the writing and directing side of things. It's not just about him performing, but he understands what goes into a film and the effort it requires and how he wants to do his best at fulfilling the creators creative intention. A true inspiration in the acting world.

    I met Mr Dafoe at a wedding many years ago in Brooklyn. I teach religion at a private school and was always intrigued by his death pose in Platoon when he opens his arms as he is dying. In my conversation with Mr. Dafoe, I asked him he was trying to achieve a Christ like scene as his character was killed because he stood up for others, he said, “you know, I never thought about but in retrospect I probably was on some level looking at his death in christ like way” Pretty cool stuff. Mr. Dafoe was incredibly kind and generous with his time especially with someone asking him introspective questions at a wedding reception!

      I sadly dont think he would do it. He always seems to hate interviews and everything that follows.

    • @babushkalol
      @babushkalol 6 лет назад +5

      Mathilde Ingemann He hates dull interviews and questions which is actually understandable. An interviewer should know a bit basic stuff about the person they’re talking too and it’s well known that Waltz for example hates being asked to “describe his character” because he holds the view that you yourself have to make your mind up about it and not take what he says for granted. So when he gets asked that question almost every single time he gives interviews of course you’d get fed up a bit 🤷🏻‍♀️
      But there are actually quite a few very good interviews with him where you truly see him enjoying himself because the questions are provoking and interesting.
      He’s actually a really chatty and interesting person when you show actual interest.

    I loved him in American Psycho as well, the way it sort of brought us into Bateman mind as his character was so hard to read, you didn't know what he knew, you were inferring and imagining no where near to the way Bateman was hallucinating but to start imagining in the way he does.
